GAP and 894 Proposals for Fall 2008 are due March 10th

If you intend to complete ITEC 894 in Fall 2008 and graduate in December 2008, you should complete the GAP and 894 Proposal package and turn it in to the department office by March 10th. You must send your 1-2 proposal draft to Dr. Benton, Dr. Foreman, or Dr. Beatty well before this deadline, to allow for discussion and revision.

After your proposal has been negotiated and approved, your full package must be turned in to the ITEC office for final review and signatures during the week of March 10th. If you have questions about the paperwork, see the ITEC Graduation Process web page first. Questions about your culminating project design should be directed to the ITEC full time faculty.

SF State Classes WILL BE HELD on Monday, February 19th

SF State does not recognize President's Day as an official holiday. The university is fully open and functioning on Monday, February 19th. Therefore all ITEC classes scheduled for Monday evenings will be held as scheduled, unless your faculty have made alternative arrangements.

GAP Workshops for Fall 2008 Graduates

If you are planning to graduate in Fall 2008, you are strongly encouraged to attend one of two GAP planning workshops scheduled for late February. At these short, one-hour workshops, ITEC faculty will review the requirements for your 894 proposal and GAP package; both of which are due in mid-March. The basic process is that you complete a proposal for your culminating work, provide evidence that you are likely to finish the following semester, and line up reviewers (first and second readers) from among the ITEC faculty who will serve as your 894 committee next semester. All this must be completed and turned in for review and approval by the ITEC department by the week of March 9th. For more on the graduation process, see: http://www.sfsu.edu/~itec/program/graduation.html.

Workshops will be held on Tuesday, February 26 in BH 170, from 6:30-7:30 PM, and Wednesday, February 27 in BH 168, from 6:30-7:30 PM. You need only attend one.

Spring 2008 Semester "Off and Running"!

As current students are well aware, the Spring 2008 semester began on Thursday, January 24, 2008. The ITEC program is offering a robust set of courses again, with approximately 20 sections of 16 different classes on the schedule. If you are a continuing student, its not too late to register for classes that still have open seats. Late enrollment is open until February 20th. (But you certainly don't want to wait until then to get started!)

Key dates to remember for this semester include:
  • Last day to apply for Spring 2008 graduation - Friday, February 15
  • Last week to submit GAP and Creative Work proposals for Fall 2008 - March 10-14
  • Spring Break, the week of March 24-28 (no classes)
  • Cesar Chavez Holiday - Monday, March 31 (no classes, office closed)
  • ITEC Showcase - TBD (sometime in early May)
  • Last week of classes - May 12-16
  • Finals week - May 19-23
  • Commencement - May 24, 2008
Enjoy your semester!
