This transition means that Dr. Beatty will no longer be a teaching faculty member in
ITEC. His work will be in applying the instructional systems design
theory and practices throughout the Academic Affairs units on campus
(essentially the 80% of the university directly
associated with teaching and learning). He will be paying particular
attention to issues of technology use and coordinating the efforts of
Academic Technology across the campus.

Dr. Beatty will still be involved in the ITEC program in some capacity, perhaps
teaching a class here and there (as a volunteer, now) and working with
students on projects associated with technology use on campus. He will
certainly be looking for ITEC interns to help
with ITEC-related campus projects. As an ITEC alum, he will remain connected to the program and its students and graduates through the ISAN group on LinkedIn, too.

The ITEC program expects to conduct a national search for a replacement faculty during the 2012-2013 school year.

We are undergoing a bit of reorganization, which will change the administrative alignment of ITEC. The ITEC (Instructional
Technologies) and DAIS (Administration and Interdisciplinary Studies)
departments of the Graduate College of Education have decided to join together to
form
a new unit called "Equity, Leadership Studies, and Instructional
Technologies (ELSIT)."

This decision is the culmination of more than a semester of careful
discussion and planning of the faculties of both departments over the
past academic year. It is our belief that there are important strategic
reasons to come together to shape a new unit.
We have shared synergies that we can build upon together in our two
units to shape an important future for the Graduate College and the
University. Furthermore, we believe that we are stronger if we come together than if we
remain separate in the current climate of budgetary
cutbacks and reorganization.

You may notice that the ITEC website now refers to the ITEC Program rather that the Department of Instructional Technologies. Students will find that this change may require a few different names on forms, but the change does not lead directly to changes in the ITEC faculty and curriculum. Dr. David Hemphill, the current chair of DAIS, will be the first chair of the new unit.Annoucementshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09458886745515746222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1846564873885881084.post-81006652226235963492012-08-17T15:11:00.000-07:002012-08-17T15:11:19.288-07:00ITEC Open House 2012

At these short, one-hour workshops, ITEC faculty will review the requirements for your 894 proposal and ATC package; both of which are due in mid-March. The basic process is that you complete a two-page proposal for your culminating work, provide evidence that you are likely to finish the following semester (transcript, list of planned courses), and line up reviewers (first and second readers) from among the ITEC faculty who will serve as your 894 committee next semester. All this must be completed and turned in for review and approval by March 7. For more on the graduation process, see: http://www.sfsu.edu/~itec/program/graduation.html.

Workshops will be held on Tuesday, February 22 in BH 170, from 6:00-7:00 PM, and Wednesday, February 23 in BH 170, from 6:00-7:00 PM. You need only attend one. Contact your faculty adviser if you absolutely cannot attend one of theses sessions in person.Annoucementshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09458886745515746222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1846564873885881084.post-71167459631590736182011-02-21T12:47:00.000-08:002011-02-21T12:55:41.249-08:00Presentation on Emerging Technologies Wed Feb 23 at 3:00Presentation on Emerging Technologies Wed, Feb 23 at 3:00pm in BH 168

You are invited to a presentation by Dr. Patricia Donohue on Wednesday February 23 at 3:00 pm to 3:50 pm in room 168 in Burk Hall. You must send your 1-2 proposal draft to Dr. Benton, Dr. Foreman, or Dr. Beatty well before this deadline, to allow for discussion and revision.

After your proposal has been negotiated and approved, your full package must be turned in to the ITEC office for final review and signatures during the week of March 10th. If you have questions about the paperwork, see the ITEC Graduation Process web page first. Questions about your culminating project design should be directed to the ITEC full time faculty.Annoucementshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09458886745515746222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1846564873885881084.post-45035898801398568552008-02-12T14:51:00.000-08:002008-02-12T14:54:26.516-08:00SF State Classes WILL BE HELD on Monday, February 19thSF State does not recognize President's Day as an official holiday. At these short, one-hour workshops, ITEC faculty will review the requirements for your 894 proposal and GAP package; both of which are due in mid-March. The basic process is that you complete a proposal for your culminating work, provide evidence that you are likely to finish the following semester, and line up reviewers (first and second readers) from among the ITEC faculty who will serve as your 894 committee next semester. All this must be completed and turned in for review and approval by the ITEC department by the week of March 9th. For more on the graduation process, see: http://www.sfsu.edu/~itec/program/graduation.html.

Workshops will be held on Tuesday, February 26 in BH 170, from 6:30-7:30 PM, and Wednesday, February 27 in BH 168, from 6:30-7:30 PM. You need only attend one.Annoucementshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09458886745515746222noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1846564873885881084.post-39443946742152286032008-01-30T14:31:00.000-08:002008-01-30T14:44:42.247-08:00Spring 2008 Semester "Off and Running"!As current students are well aware, the Spring 2008 semester began on Thursday, January 24, 2008.
